Standard resin 3D printing service
Resin printing cures liquid photopolymer layer by layer and produces parts with far finer detail and a smoother surface than any filament process. It is the right process when the part is small, intricate, or has to look moulded rather than printed. Resin parts are more brittle than filament parts and degrade in sunlight, so they suit models, masters and detail work rather than working mechanical components.

What Standard resin is good for
- Miniatures and highly detailed models
- Jewellery masters and castable patterns
- Dental and medical models
- Small parts with fine surface texture
What Standard resin is the wrong choice for
- Large parts, which the build volume limits
- Load-bearing or impact parts
- Anything left in daylight
The long-form guide, with design rules and the alternatives side by side: Standard resin 3D printing, explained.
Designing for Standard resin
- The build volume is the constraint. If the part is larger than the resin machines take, it is either split or printed in filament.
- Resin captures detail a 0.42 mm filament nozzle physically cannot lay down, so a part that looks soft in FDM is usually a resin part.

What this page does not claim
There is no tolerance figure and no strength figure for Standard resin on this page. A printed part does not have the properties of the spool it came from, and this shop has not measured its own, so publishing a number lifted from a filament data sheet would be publishing somebody else's result as ours. What is missing and why is set out under design rules, and where a part needs one of those figures it is measured on a real printed sample rather than quoted from a table.
