Nylon PA12 3D printing service
PA12 nylon is the filament for parts that slide, wear or flex repeatedly without failing: gears, hinges, cable guides, snap fits. It is tougher and more fatigue resistant than any of the styrenics, and it has a naturally low friction surface. It absorbs moisture from the air, so it is printed dry and is worth keeping sealed if the part will be stored a long time before use.

What Nylon PA12 is good for
- Gears, cams and bushings
- Living hinges and snap fits
- Cable guides and wear parts
- Parts that flex many thousands of times
What Nylon PA12 is the wrong choice for
- Parts that must not move dimensionally in humid air
- Cosmetic surfaces

Designing for Nylon PA12
- Nylon is the answer when a PETG part keeps failing at the same point after repeated use. It is a fatigue problem, not a strength problem.
- Design clearances slightly looser than for PLA. Nylon parts that are a press fit off the machine tend to be too tight after they take up moisture.

What this page does not claim
There is no tolerance figure and no strength figure for Nylon PA12 on this page. A printed part does not have the properties of the spool it came from, and this shop has not measured its own, so publishing a number lifted from a filament data sheet would be publishing somebody else's result as ours. What is missing and why is set out under design rules, and where a part needs one of those figures it is measured on a real printed sample rather than quoted from a table.
