ASA 3D printing service
ASA is ABS reformulated to survive sunlight: the same heat and impact resistance, without the yellowing and surface chalking that ends an ABS part left outdoors. It is the correct choice for any printed part that will live outside for more than a season. It prints much like ABS and shares the same shrinkage behaviour on large flat geometry.

What ASA is good for
- Outdoor housings and mounts
- Signage and fixtures in daylight
- Automotive exterior trim and prototypes
- Anything replacing an outdoor injection moulded part
What ASA is the wrong choice for
- Very large flat panels in one piece
- Parts where cost matters more than weathering
- Fine cosmetic detail straight off the machine
The long-form guide, with design rules and the alternatives side by side: ASA 3D printing, explained.
Designing for ASA
- If the part goes outdoors, ASA rather than ABS is almost always the right answer, and the price difference between them is small.
- UV resistance is a property of the polymer, not of the colour. A black ASA part and a light one both weather.

What this page does not claim
There is no tolerance figure and no strength figure for ASA on this page. A printed part does not have the properties of the spool it came from, and this shop has not measured its own, so publishing a number lifted from a filament data sheet would be publishing somebody else's result as ours. What is missing and why is set out under design rules, and where a part needs one of those figures it is measured on a real printed sample rather than quoted from a table.
