ABS CF 3D printing service
ABS CF is ABS with chopped carbon fibre added, and the fibre solves the one thing that makes large ABS parts difficult: shrinkage. A long flat panel that would bow in plain ABS holds its shape in ABS CF, while keeping the heat resistance and the machinability that make ABS an engineering material. It is the material for a part that has to be dimensionally right and has to survive being warm.

What ABS CF is good for
- Parts that live near heat
- Large flat panels that bow in plain ABS
- Tooling and production jigs
- Housings that will be drilled or tapped
What ABS CF is the wrong choice for
- Parts that need to flex
- Outdoor parts in direct sun over months
- Fine cosmetic detail straight off the machine
The long-form guide, with design rules and the alternatives side by side: ABS CF 3D printing, explained.
Designing for ABS CF
- Choose it over plain ABS when the constraint is holding a dimension rather than surviving an impact - the fibre trades some toughness for stability.
- It does not take acetone smoothing the way unfilled ABS does; the fibre stays proud of the softened surface.

What this page does not claim
There is no tolerance figure and no strength figure for ABS CF on this page. A printed part does not have the properties of the spool it came from, and this shop has not measured its own, so publishing a number lifted from a filament data sheet would be publishing somebody else's result as ours. What is missing and why is set out under design rules, and where a part needs one of those figures it is measured on a real printed sample rather than quoted from a table.
